Voge 300 Rally Review – A Capable Green-Laner

Engine and Road Performance

The Voge 300 Rally is an affordable, lightweight adventure bike that balances road and off-road capability. Its 292cc single-cylinder engine produces 29bhp, providing enough power for green lanes and backroad riding while remaining manageable for newer riders. On tarmac, the engine runs smoothly for a small-capacity single, with a comfortable cruising speed of around 70mph—though it can stretch to 80mph if needed. The six-speed gearbox is well-spaced, making it easy to find the right gear whether on-road or tackling trails. While not as refined as larger adventure bikes, it holds its own against comparable machines like the Honda CRF300L.

Off-Road Performance and Handling

Off-road, the Voge 300 Rally performs admirably for a bike in this category. The long-travel suspension is effective at absorbing bumps and ruts, though it leans towards the softer side for aggressive riders. Its relatively light 157kg wet weight makes it easier to handle on technical sections, and the 21”/18” wheel combination enhances stability on loose surfaces. The stock Timsun tyres provide reasonable traction across mixed terrain, though more aggressive options may be beneficial for serious trail riding. While it may not match a full enduro bike’s capability, it offers a solid balance of comfort and control for green-laning in the UK.

Height and Gear Shifter Limitations

There are, however, a couple of drawbacks. The 920mm seat height is quite tall, making it better suited to riders over 5’8″. Shorter riders may struggle to get both feet down, though this can be mitigated with a lower seat or suspension link, both of which are available via AliExpress. Another issue is the gear shifter placement, which can be difficult to operate smoothly when wearing bulky adventure boots. The stock lever sits quite close to the bike, making upshifts awkward. Fortunately, adjustable and extended gear levers are available as aftermarket solutions, resolving this minor but noticeable inconvenience.

Video – How to Lower the Voge 300 Rally

I am absolutely not a mechanic – no way at all. I thought I’d produce a short video of how I lowered my Voge 300 Rally for likewise non-mechanically minded folks. The links to the LOWERING LINK and the Hydraulic Bike Lift can be found in the SHOPPING section at the bottom of the page.

Final Thoughts

Despite these quirks, the Voge 300 Rally remains a solid option for riders seeking a capable, affordable green-laner with reasonable road manners. While it doesn’t necessarily outshine the CRF300L on tarmac, it performs comparably and provides a strong overall package for mixed-terrain riding. The tall seat and tight gear shifter may require some adjustments, but these are minor issues that can be easily addressed with aftermarket parts. For those who fit the bike’s dimensions and are willing to make a few tweaks, the 300 Rally delivers impressive performance at a competitive price point.

I was NOT paid to make this video – I just thought it may be useful to other shorter Voge 300 Rally owners who want to drop their bike about 2 inches. Clicking the links below gains me a small commission and motivates me to produce similar videos and reviews.

Hydraulic Lift

A quality hydraulic lift make working on the bike easy & safe. Since buying this I have used it for dozens of jobs – including helping my mate lower the gearbox from his Ford Transit van.

Belly Pan

I had to make small adjustments to the black ABS trim to get a neat fit – video to follow. It’s obvious when fitting it which sections are getting in the way. Just angle grind them off until you can get the bottom fascia bolt back in.
